Maté and King at the Vuelta

Maté and King at the Vuelta

News from the Vuelta a España and Tour of Britain

Surprise packages arrived at the Vuelta in the form of Luis Ángel Maté and Ben King, who establish themselves as two of the standout men from the first ten days of racing. King took his second stage win of the race on Sunday after a gutsy performance on the final climb of the day to La Covatilla.

Meanwhile Spaniard Luis Ángel Maté extended his lead in the Mountains Classification to establish a 27-point lead over King. Maté established a lead in the King of the Mountains classification early on stage two and has built it up gradually and consistently, adding points at every opportunity.

Meanwhile at the Tour of Britain André Greipel once again showed why he is still regarded as one of the best sprinters of his generation. Greipel launched a powerful sprint to out sprint Caleb Ewan and Fernando Gaviria to take the stage honours and the leaders jersey.

Luis Ángel Maté uses the Suomy Gun Wind, Ben King uses Astute saddles and André Greipel and team Lotto Soudal use Campagnolo componentry on all their bikes.
