Suomy are a prestigious performance cycling helmet manufacturer that applies experience in protection and style from Motocross and Moto GP to professional cycling.
Having worked for Yamaha, founder of Suomy, Umberto Monti, committed his talent to cycling in 1997. Helmet design was his passion and in holding a deep affinity for quality products that are ‘Made in Italy’ he was joined by his two brothers to create Suomy: a completely Italian brand, 100% designed and made in Italy.
From the very beginning, the Suomy fluorescent Red Dot became unmistakable and unique on the heads of the riders as a badge of quality and style.
Quality and performance stems from detailed and informed research and development, something that Suomy excel at. Starting in 2014 with a broad base of experience and research, motivated technicians developed ideas and combined refined scientific testing, including impact resistance and wind tunnel simulation, to create the ideal range of cycling helmets, for all cycling disciplines.
Road race Suomy's flagship helmet: Gun Wind
Marking the triumphant entry of Suomy into the world of cycling, the Gun Wind is a dedicated all-round road racing helmet. The most recent incarnation was designed in collaboration with the former World Tour Team, Lampre Merida, who rode to stage victories in the Tour de France, Giro and Vuelta in 2015 & 16. Additionally, UCI CX World Champion Wout Van Aert took his third consecutive World Championship title in 2018, racing with the Suomy Gun Wind. Other teams to have adopted Suomy as their helmets of choice include Team Cofidis as well as Team Verandas Willems Crelan.
Manufactured using Suomy’s In-mould Technology, the Gun Wind is formed of a lightweight polycarbonate shell with a reinforced inner thermoplastic-resin composite structure. It features excellent ventilation optimised to be aerodynamically efficient in real world conditions and the washable hypoallergenic padding combined with biaxial adjuster and removable chin strap make for ultimate comfort during the ride.
