If steel is the ultimate noble metal, titanium must be considered to be the king of metals. The titanium rame is a product which goes beyond fashions. It is a frame destined for genuine purists of top-of- herange racing cycles and lovers of unique objects, such as a De Rosa titanium frame. Clearly there are different degrees of titanium, varying in terms of their quality, characteristics and price, and a number of alloys which are very different from one another. The peculiarities of titanium are well-known: we are indeed talking about a unique metal which offers practically unlimited resistance to wear, an excellent relationship between specifi c weight and performance and a very high elastic modulus. In contrast the hardness of titanium does not facilitate the task of th e manufacturer and perhaps because of this many other frame manufacturers concentrate on different materials.
